Baltimore, MD - Mar. 5, 2024 - The war in Eretz Yisroel, the horrible massacre, the world’s response to it and our response to it have awakened in all of us a deep longing and need to connect to Hashem and be in a relationship with Him, and, at the same time, to bring unity and healing to klal Yisroel. You can see this in all the outstanding acts of chesed being done in Klal Yisroel on so many different levels: the davening, the Tehillim, and the hundreds of people making tzitzis for the chayalim, many of whom had never worn them before, who are now asking for them. These are all part of that effort to connect.
We learn from the Ramchal that behind the external efforts is the internal connection which occurs while doing those things: the connection between ourselves and Hashem when we’re doing bein adam laMakom avoda, and the connection that occurs between us and other people when we’re engaged in bein adam lechavero. What we emphasize at Tiferes Yisroel is how the external realm of action brings out the internal, penimiusdik realm of relationship. This effort hopefully creates a deep bond between ourselves and Hashem, and between ourselves and our fellow Jews.
The most important thing that is emphasized in our shul is to strive to build and refine our relationship with Hashem and to include others in that process. That’s the essence of life. Tiferes Yisroel is a place to be strengthened and supported in the midst of a community that shares common ideals. Coming to shul and being part of the shul community and its programs gives strength to people. For so many, learning and davening together is a source of fortitude and inspiration to help us move forward in a positive way, to grow spiritually, creating a strong bond to Hashem, the Jewish people, and Eretz Yisroel.
We have to really emphasize both sides of the luchos, the Ten Commandments, to elevate the relationship between ourselves and Hashem, and the relationship between ourselves and our fellow Jews.
We invite you to support these efforts in our campaign; Turning towards Hashem, Turning towards Each Other.
