Baltimore, MD  - Mar. 4, 2024 - (WMAR2News) The Baltimore City Council voted to approve bills for the redevelopment of Harborplace at its Monday night meeting. The council voted 14-1 on three bills covering zoning, land use, and amending the City Charter, paving the way for approval by the mayor and city voters. City Council President Nick Mosby emphasized the importance of the project and pledged transparent and inclusive processes. MCB Real Estate developer David Bramble expressed appreciation for the council's confidence but acknowledged that the real work is just beginning. Councilmember Ryan Dorsey was the sole 'no' vote, citing concerns about the development's impact on housing affordability. The effort will now proceed to a citywide vote in November.
