Baltimore, MD - Jan. 29, 2024 - Gas prices in Baltimore have surged by 9.6 cents per gallon in the past week, reaching an average of $3.18 per gallon, according to a GasBuddy survey. While prices are slightly higher than a month ago, they remain significantly lower than a year ago, according to FOX45.

The national average diesel price has decreased slightly by 0.5 cents per gallon to $3.87 per gallon.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, attributed the recent gasoline price increase to cold weather-related refinery shutdowns and rising oil prices due to geopolitical tensions. He expects prices to continue a slow increase, with larger hikes anticipated from mid-February through April or May, potentially ranging from 35 to 85 cents per gallon.

The cheapest and most expensive gas prices in Baltimore were $2.85/g and $3.59/g, respectively. In the state, prices ranged from $2.49/g to $3.99/g.

The national average gasoline price has risen by 4.5 cents per gallon in the last week, reaching an average of $3.07/g. Despite the increase, it remains significantly lower than the previous year by 41.2 cents per gallon, according to GasBuddy data.
