Baltimore, MD - Jan. 12, 2024  - Another storm is on the way, expected to affect our area from Friday night into Shabbos. This storm brings with it several elements to watch out for:

  1. Rain: While not as heavy as the last storm, we can anticipate around 1/2" to 1.25" of rain in most areas, with the heaviest rainfall along the I-95 corridor. A Flood Watch has been issued for this region. The rain will start after sunset and continue until around midnight to 1am, possibly with pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall.
  2. Wind: On Friday night, we won't experience as intense winds as we did on Tuesday, but gusts of 30-40mph are expected in most areas.   Shabbos brings a potentially tricky situation with a setup for potentially damaging winds across the area, even though models don't project winds gusting much over 40mph. There's moderate confidence in winds gusting 40-50mph on Shabbos, particularly northwest of I-95, possibly requiring a wind advisory. This could result in downed trees and power outages.

Regarding next week, there's a chance of snow on both Monday and Tuesday. However, it's too early to provide specific details such as snowfall amounts or exact timing. We'll have a clearer picture after this storm passes, and models provide more accurate information. What we can be certain about is that next week will be significantly colder, with most areas struggling to reach temperatures above the low to mid-30s.
