Baltimore, MD - Dec. 21, 2023  - An ongoing initiative is underway to implement additional safety measures at all Baltimore Metro subway stations, according to WBAL.  The Maryland Transit Administration is installing short, vertical posts with the purpose of preventing passengers from accidentally stepping off the platform between rail cars. These safety measures also aim to assist visually impaired individuals who might mistakenly perceive a gap between trains as an open door. Advanced train technology ensures that rail cars stop precisely at the platform, aligning with the newly installed safety posts. The installation process, which does not disrupt service, commenced over two weeks ago at the Owings Mills station and will subsequently cover all stations.
