Baltimore, MD - Dec. 20, 2023  - The Baltimore community came together once again to celebrate one of the highlights of Chanukah, the Car Menorah Parade and Grand Menorah lighting ceremony. Nearly 100 vehicles adorned with menorahs, including police vehicles from both Baltimore City Police Department and Baltimore County Police Department, participated in the parade, spreading the light and joy of Chanukah throughout Northwest Baltimore and Baltimore County. The procession was led by a formation of 12 Police Motorcycles, and hundreds of spectators gathered along the route to witness the parade as it passed by the Yeshivas Lubavitch of Baltimore's 770 building.

The parade culminated at Quarry Lake, where the festivities continued with a Grand Menorah Lighting and Laser Show presented by the award-winning Dynamic FX, followed by a concert with music by Yossi Blokh featuring singer Eli Atias. The event was organized by Regional Director of Chabad of Maryland Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan and Shliach to Chabad of Park Heights Rabbi Shmulik Raices, who also served as the emcee. The gathering, attended by over 1000 people, began with Rabbi Raices extending congratulations to Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, who couldn't be present due to a family celebration. The crowd came together to recite Tehillim in solidarity with their brethren in Eretz Yisroel.

Rabbi Elchonon Lisbon, director of Chabad of Park Heights, addressed the audience, while Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman conveyed greetings and had the honor of lighting the Shamesh. Baltimore City Councilman Isaac Yitzy Schleifer was entrusted with reciting the blessings and lighting the Menorah, and State Senator Shelly Laskin Hettleman was also in attendance, along with a representative from Baltimore County Councilman Izzy Patoka's office. The parade was coordinated by Baltimore Shliach Rabbi Chesky Tenenbaum, director of Jewish Uniformed Service Association of Maryland-Chabad, and the Chabad Centers of Baltimore, with the assistance of Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, Regional Director of Chabad of Maryland.

Rabbi Lisbon expressed, "The Parade and Grand Menorah Lighting event fulfilled the Rebbe's wishes for creating light amidst the darkness, brought the whole community out in an amazing display of unity, and brought joy and inspiration to young and old alike." The success of the parade was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Baltimore County Police and Captain Bylen, with special thanks extended to Obrecht Properties and Yoel Shernofsky for their support.
