Ben Gurion Airport - Aug. 16, 2023  - Today marked a significant event as 215 Olim (Jewish immigrants) from the US and Canada touched down at Ben Gurion Airport, representing the 64th Nefesh B’Nefesh chartered Aliyah flight, according to Arutz-7. Since 2002, the organization has brought over 75,000 Olim to Israel.

For the first time, all passengers on this charter could complete their Aliyah processing inflight by receiving their Teudot Oleh (immigration certificates). This streamlined process was initially piloted last summer and now has been extended to all.

Gregg and Rachel Levitan (holding the flag) dreamed of making Aliyah and in less than a year made it happen! Their daughter Adina exclaimed “I am so proud and excited for my parents Aliyah! This is the dream of dreams and they made it come true!”

The new arrivals comprised of 22 families, which included 75 children, single men and women, retirees, medical professionals, and individuals who aim to develop Israel's peripheral regions. The age range of these Olim varied from 4 months to 77 years.

Minister of Aliyah and Integration, Ofir Sofer, expressed his elation in welcoming the new Olim and emphasized the collective goal of increasing Aliyah numbers. Rabbi Yehoshua Fass, Co-Founder of Nefesh B’Nefesh, highlighted the diversity and unity among the Olim, each of whom shares a deep love for Israel.

Minister Moshe Arbel, head of the Ministry of Interior, also congratulated the Olim, emphasizing the significant contribution they'll make to the Israeli medical system, especially with the presence of many medical professionals onboard.

The Olim's landing also witnessed a heartwarming reunion: 77-year-old Carol Ginsberg was reunited with her daughters who had previously made Aliyah, continuing their family's Aliyah journey.

Remarkably, about a quarter of these Olim are young individuals committed to volunteering in the IDF, intending to join as lone soldiers through the Garin Tzabar program.

These Olim come from diverse backgrounds and professions, hailing from various US states and Canadian provinces. Their relocation will span across several Israeli cities, and they represent a broad spectrum of professions, from doctors to educators.

Ifat Ovadia-Luski, KKL-JNF's Chairwoman, applauded the Olim's commitment to the Zionist spirit and affirmed KKL-JNF's dedication to assisting Jewish Aliyah, a cornerstone of the Zionist mission.
