The bitter news spread on motzei Shabbos of the petira of one of the Roshei Yeshiva of Ponevezh, HaGaon HaRav Chaim Shlomo Leibowitz ZT”L, 83. The rav was previously a Rosh Yeshiva of Kaminetz.

The Rosh Yeshiva was niftar at about 9:00AM Shabbos morning with family and talmidim around his bed.

Rav Leibowitz fell in his home a number of months ago, which led to bleeding in his brain and subsequent complications. He was also hospitalized since for pneumonia.

Police are meeting on motzei Shabbos to prepare for the levaya which is expected to take place on Sunday, 19 Adar-I, beginning from Ponevezh at noon with kvura in Har M
