Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 23, 2015 - Israeli non-profit, ImaKadima was founded in November 2014, by a small group of career-minded women, mostly English speaking olim. A grassroots initiative, it has grown from a Facebook page group to a community off over 2400 women, mothers and some women who hope to be in the future.
In its mission statement ImaKadima expressed goals are "to empower, support, educate, and advocate for the wide spectrum of career-minded mothers in Israel. We are united by our professional motivation as well as our need and desire to be fulfilled mothers who are present at home. ImaKadima empowers career minded mothers and promotes family friendly workplaces in Israel."
Cori Widen and Naava Posy Shafner, a former Maryland resident, are founders and leaders of the group which held its Winter Summit at PICO, a work sharing Hub in the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem on Monday night..
Networking and introductions of over 60 women who attended, were followed by breakout, round table brainstorming sessions. Each session focused on one challenge working women face, and discussions were held looking for practical solutions.
Job Searching,"Getting to the table- How can I get the right interview and come prepared?" was facilitated by Gila Weinberg, CEO of Mikum Consulting, an HR consultant and career counselor. She helps organizations find employees, and helps people figure out their next career move.
Professional Communication, "How can I advocate for myself in the workplace without coming across as aggressive?" was facilitated by Aliza Levitt Gillman, CBT Therapist and Parenting Educator.
Using the ImaKadima Network, "How can I, an established business owner/ professional, benefit from networks such as ImaKadima?" was facilitated by Naava Shafner, Executive Director ImaKadima, and Penina Eichler, Professional Development Coordinator at ImaKadima, with years of HR experience in US and Israel.
Parenting as a career-minded mother, “Conflict of interest between family and career: does it exist and how can we deal with it?” was facilitated by Liba Lurie, Motherhood in the Making and licensed psychologist

The professions and businesses ranged from local to world-wide on-line firms, and included Baltimore's Shaindy's cosmetics representative, Rachel Levy.
ImaKadima, Onward Mother! in English, has been involved with legislation in the Knesset to make the work place more "family friendly" and hopes for more positive initiatives in the future.
