Queens, NY - Despite the fact that the seven recent arson fires set ablaze in Forest Hills have all targeted buildings owned by Bukharain Jews, mainstream news has overlooked the spree, while NYPD investigators are refraining from calling it a “pattern.”
THEJEWISHWEEK.com reports that while an ongoing investigation by the NYPD Arson and Explosive Squad has yielded video surveillance footage linking a single suspect to four of the fires, NYPD reps have been tightlipped on labeling the fires ‘hate crimes’ or even acknowledging that the fires seem to be exclusively targeting the Bukharian Jewish community.
But that hasn’t stopped community members form speaking publicly about what they’re seeing and the climate of fear that is now prevalent among residents.
Six-year Bukharian community resident Boris Yuabov said, “If seven Jewish homes had been burned in France within a month, there would be much more of an uproar. We are scared. These fires are started in the dead of night in a neighborhood with many children and elderly individuals. This is a life-threatening situation.”
The NYPD is offering upto $2,500.00 reward for information regarding the arson.
