Representative from shuls were invited to attend this important in-depth briefing and update about security for the upcoming Holidays. All local shuls and schools have been reviewing and tightening their security standards and procedures of late, in light of current events around the world.

The meeting was chaired by Major Mark Partee-Commander of the Northwest District with Ken Dickstein-City-wide Liaison to the Jewish Community, Betsy Gardner-Neighborhood Liaison and City-wide Jewish Liaison to City Council President Jack Young and Baltimore City Council President Jack Young.

Major Partee spoke specifically about police deployment for the holidays – including a partnership with Baltimore County Police Dept. - explaining that there would be increased police presence both in patrol cars and on foot during the holidays. He assured the attendees that the officers know where all the shuls are and the basic schedules for the holidays, and that there would be undercover officers patrolling the area (but understandably did not give details).

He continued by saying that he understands that  the issue of terrorism was concerning to the community and assured everyone that presently Homeland Security and the FBI know of no threats. Should there be any change in this status, he would immediately notify the appropriate members of our community.

The police also mentioned that as in the past, The TARU (Technical Assistance Response Unit) police vehicle will be parked on Park Heights Ave. during the Yomim Noraim. Nathan Willner, General Counsel for Shomrim of Baltimore thanked the police for the reassuring visual presence of protection for our community.
