Baltimore, MD - September 1, 2015; Elul 18, 5775:

Dear Friends:

I hope this note finds you well.

Tonight's event at Beth Tfiloh was inspiring, seeing so many people from throughout the Jewish community come together to express their concern.  All of us were bound together by a strong sense of Jewish consciousness, informed by the lessons of our history.  I hope and pray that the strong voice of our unified community will be heard by our representatives, and they will move ahead to oppose the Iran deal.

Once again you are encouraged to call our Senators (202-224-4524 and 202-224-4654) and our Congressman (202-225-4016) and urge them to come out now in opposition to the deal.

More than ever, now is the time for Tefillah, for sincere and additional prayer, as well as for other spiritual efforts.  We as a community and as individuals have made the material efforts that we could, through public gatherings, meetings and individual phone calls.  Now - especially now in these days of Elul - we must do more to be worthy of Hashem's favor at this critical time.

I ask each of you - individually - to consider what you can do to add something to your spiritual efforts for the safety of our world.  Consider adopting the timeless custom of reciting more Tehillim in this season, or dedicating some extra time for Torah study.  Consider charitable acts and simple acts of kindness to others, and - most importantly - demonstrating greater care and sensitivity at home.  And let each of us dedicate more time to deepening our faith that all that we experience is in the hands of Hashem, Who will deliver us the ultimate salvation from this crisis.

Respectfully,

Rabbi Moshe Hauer
