Baltimore, MD – September 22, 2026 - On Sunday, Erev Yom Kippur, the Mercaz Daf Yomi of Mercaz Torah U’Tefillah celebrated a siyum on Maseches Chullin, bringing together a large crowd for a meaningful celebration of Torah just hours before the onset of Yom Kippur.

The gathering brought together the Maggidei Shiur and participants from Mercaz’s 13 daily Daf Yomi shiurim, uniting the many lomdei haDaf who learn at different times throughout the day in celebration of their shared accomplishment. Among those in attendance was Dr. Thomas Azman, who marked the extraordinary personal milestone of completing the entire Shas with the completion of Maseches Chullin.

A delicious fleishig seudah was served during the siyum, serving as the first seudah of Erev Yom Kippur. The Zidichover Rebbe offered divrei bracha and spoke about the beauty and significance of entering the Yom HaDin in such a way, celebrating the completion of a masechta together with a seudas mitzvah. He also reflected on the special significance of the siyum taking place at the first seudah of Erev Yom Kippur.

Longtime Mercaz Daf Yomi Maggid Shiur Rabbi Zvi Goldberg was the mesayem and delivered a fascinating drasha on the mitzvah of Shiluach HaKein, one of the many important sugyos learned in Maseches Chullin.

The celebration concluded with stirring Yom Kippur niggunim led by famed Baltimore singer and composer Dr. Yitzy Kaplowitz, followed by lively dancing as participants celebrated the completion of the masechta and the tremendous accomplishment of consistent Daf Yomi learning.

The siyum provided a particularly uplifting way to enter Yom Kippur, surrounded by the simcha of Torah and inspired toward continued learning and growth.
