Dear Friends,
I'd like to share a quote with you:
Years of having the responsibility to deliver eulogies taught me how to look at others. The maspid is instructed to speak positively and generously of the niftar while avoiding exaggeration (Yoreh Deah 344:1). Though some might consider this impossible...given the responsibility to uncover the good in others, we can easily see how every person has unique strengths and qualities, even though left to our own devices we will usually focus on the negatives.
It's a quote that tells you much about the one who said it.
This week, we learn about the power of a hesped and the two words used by the Torah, "lispod leSarah v'livkosah" might well be referencing to these two components: one is to express the magn...

In a candid interview with Australian journalist Erin Molan, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed questions about Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected anti-Israel mayor of New York, and whether he felt concerned about visiting the city following Mamdani's comments that he would seek to arrest Netanyahu if he entered the city.
Netanyahu firmly responded, "No. I’m not afraid. What do you want me to say about Mamdani? What about him?"
He further elaborated on his views about Mamdani’s political stances, contrasting them with his own approach to economics, particularly the shift Israel made from semi-socialism to free-market capitalism. Netanyahu pointed out the success of Israel's economic reforms, which he said turned the country into a global high-tech po...

Baltimore, MD - Nov. 12, 2025 - Rav Yosef Scheinerman, Rosh Yeshiva of Roosevelt Yeshiva in Monsey, NY, spoke to the Toras Simcha middle school students after Mincha. Through a mashal from the Dubna Maggid, he illustrated the difference between the enthusiasm of Avraham Avinu during the two days leading up to the Akeidah and Yitzchak Avinu's acceptance of the Akeidah.
Enthusiasm and alacrity bring reward in this world, but the true reward in the World to Come is destined for Yitzchak Avinu for his unwavering acceptance.
That is why we refer to the Akeidah as Akeidas Yitzchak, even though it was one of Avraham Avinu's most difficult tests.
Both are true, and it is not a contradiction.
