Baltimore, MD - May 20, 2024  - Dear Colleagues,

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Joel Pleeter on his appointment as vice chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sinai Hospital, effective May 20.

Dr. Pleeter earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY – Brooklyn and completed his OB/GYN internship and residency at Sinai.

After his training, Dr. Pleeter joined Village Obstetrics & Gynecology in Pikesville, where he still serves an integral part of this busy private practice. Dr. Pleeter takes pride that this practice has been caring for the same community for more than 50 years, including taking care of many Orthodox patients and their specific cultural needs.

Medical education and training have also been a vital part of Dr. Pleeter’s career. He has been actively involved in teaching as a faculty member in Sinai’s residency program and feels physicians have a responsibility to train younger doctors.

He also has been an active participant on our medical staff, serving as past president, as well as serving on several hospital committees. He has been recognized for his teaching skills and, on numerous occasions, has been chosen by his peers as a Top Doctor in Baltimore magazine.

Dr. Pleeter says it’s a privilege to be appointed as vice chair and looks forward to this opportunity to contributing to the department to advance our patient care and medical training.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Pleeter’s expertise and experience, as well as his deep history and connections to our Sinai community, as we work together to further the mission of our OB/GYN program.
