Baltimore, MD - Oct. 16, 2023  - In recent data released by the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), Baltimore experienced 26 carjackings in just one week, according to FOX45. A concerning trend has emerged in the Northwest police district, where women are increasingly being targeted for carjackings at gas stations. During a City Council committee hearing, the BPD Commissioner noted that in the Northwest area, there have been instances where young women at gas stations were approached with the intent of stealing their vehicles. In just two days, three such carjackings occurred. As of October 2023, the city has witnessed almost 400 carjackings. The BPD is actively monitoring these incidents, including those involving juveniles, and recent arrests have been made in connection with some of these crimes. Female victims are now being highlighted in the crime statistics for Northwest Baltimore.
