House GOP Tanks Its Own Funding Bill, Edging Closer To Shutdown
By: The Hill

A band of House conservatives on Friday voted down a GOP bill to avoid a government shutdown.
The vote marked a significant — and embarrassing — defeat for Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as a shutdown this weekend appears increasingly inevitable.
Twenty-one Republicans joined Democrats in opposing the legislation, bringing the final tally to 198-232. The measure advanced in a party-line vote earlier on Friday.
The bill did not stand a chance in the Senate, where Democrats were sure to line up against it. And the White House Friday morning issued a veto threat for the bill.... Read More:

A Final Chesed in Loving Memory of Rav Dovid Frid Z'tl
Dear Friends,
With profound sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Rav Dovid Z'tl. On behalf of the family, we want to thank all those who stood by their side throughout the years. You were an amazing team that gave Rav Dovid lifesaving care. May you and yours be blessed with health, happiness and prosperity in the coming year and always.
For almost fifteen years, Rav Dovid was not only a beacon of strength and Emunah, but a true warrior, living each day with courage, dignity and deep devotion to Torah despite his struggle with the devastating and cruel disease, ALS. Unfortunately, years of 24/7 care, medical expenses and household needs have left enormous debts and there is no savings or insu...
Baltimore, MD - Sept. 28, 2025 - Ahead of the Yom Tov season, and with the ongoing outbreak of measles in Israel, we wanted to share the following recommendations for anyone traveling with children to Israel for Yom Tov. The following also applies to any international travel or travel to a location with a known measles outbreak. * Children and adolescents who have had 2 doses of the measles vaccine given after 1 year of age are considered up-to-date, and do not need any further vaccination. * Children 1 year and older who have had one dose of the vaccine should get a second dose (normally given at 4 years old), so long as at least 28 days have passed since the first. No further doses are needed after this one is given. * Infants between 6 and 12 months old should g...

Washington, D.C. - Oct 3, 2025 - US President Donald Trump posted a threat to Hamas on 'Truth Social'.
"Hamas has been a ruthless and violent threat, for many years, in the Middle East", he wrote, "They have killed (and made lives unbearably miserable), culminating with the October 7th MASSACRE, in Israel, babies, woman, children, old people, and many young men and women, boys and girls, getting ready to celebrate their future lives together".
"As retribution for the October 7th attack on civilization, more than 25,000 Hamas “soldiers” have already been killed", he continued, "Most of the rest are surrounded and MILITARILY TRAPPED, just waiting for me to give the word, “GO,” for their lives to be quickly extinguished".
"As for the rest", the president a...
Baltimore, MD - Oct. 3, 2025 - Oct Baltimore taxpayers are spending more than $160,000 for Mayor Brandon Scott’s new ride, a fully loaded 2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with custom security features.
The price tag raises questions about spending priorities in a city that just closed a budget deficit with new fees and fines, while residents endure crumbling infrastructure, persistent crime and rising costs of living. At a time when Baltimore residents are asked to pay more, records show Scott’s office made a purchase that watchdogs say is far from frugal.
Taxpayers shelled out $163,495 for Scott’s new SUV, according to a purchase order obtained by Spotlight on Maryland through a public records request. The vehicle itself cost $98,716, while another $64,779 went toward up...
The BBC reported this evening (Thursday) that mediators Qatar and Egypt contacted the head of Hamas' military wing in Gaza, Izz ad-Din al-Haddad, who made it clear that he opposes US President Donald Trump's 21-point plan.
According to the report, al-Haddad believes that the US plan is intended to bring about the end of Hamas's rule - whether the terrorist organization agrees to it or not - and therefore, from his perspective, there is no point in accepting it, and Hamas must continue fighting.
On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump told reporters that Hamas has three to four days to respond to his peace plan, which he presented during a press conference with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confi...
Manchester, England - Oct. 2, 2025 - Two Jews were murdered and three others were seriously injured today (Thursday) in a combined vehicle-ramming and stabbing attack outside a synagogue in Manchester, England. The attack was committed on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.
Local police reported that the attacker, initially suspected of wearing a suicide belt, was shot dead by responding officers.
Eyewitnesses said they saw a car speeding toward a gathering outside the building. After ramming into people, the driver exited the vehicle and began stabbing those nearby before being neutralized. The bomb disposal unit was called to the scene, and the police confirmed it was a terrorist attack, noting that two individuals were arrested.

Senate Democrats voted Wednesday to block a House-passed stopgap funding bill that would reopen the federal government until Nov. 21, but several Democrats broke with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) and supported the measure.
Wednesday’s vote marked the third time in two weeks that the House-passed continuing resolution failed to advance on the Senate floor — but it was the first time senators voted on the issue while the government is closed. The measure needed 60 votes to advance and failed 55-45, the same margin as Tuesday’s vote.
Three members of the Democratic caucus voted to advance the GOP resolution: Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), a member of the Democratic leadership team; Sen. John Fetterman (Pa.); and...
Annapolis, MD - Oct. 1, 2025 - Maryland’s governor on Wednesday called the federal government shutdown unnecessary and said it will hurt residents, not just federal workers.
“Leaders at the highest levels of government, and inside the White House itself, are looking at each and every one of us, all 50 states, and saying, ‘You’re now on your own,'” Gov. Wes Moore said. “But while Washington sows division, in Maryland, we stand united.”
Moore, a Democrat, announced three immediate actions to protect residents, particularly the state’s 150,000 federal workers, amid the shutdown.
“We will do everything in our power to deliver relief to those who are struggling,” Moore said.
The governor announced state agencie...

U.S. President Donald Trump signed an unprecedented executive order stipulating that any armed attack on Qatar’s territory, sovereignty, or infrastructure will be considered a direct threat to the security of the United States.
According to the order, in the event of an attack against Qatar, the U.S. will act, "by all lawful and appropriate means — diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military — to protect the interests of the United States and Qatar and to restore peace and stability."
The order was signed on the day Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a joint statement on the "21-point Initiative" to end the war.
During the same visit, Netanyahu called the Emir of Qatar to apologize for violating Qatar's sovereignty during Operation Summ...
