Baltimore, MD - Aug. 8, 2023 - Carim Khouzami, the President and CEO of BGE, addressed the extensive power outages caused by a devastating storm last night, calling it one of the worst the service area has seen in years. At the storm's peak, 120,000 customers lost power, nearly half of whom were in Carroll County. As of now, about 52,000 customers remain without service. Khouzami stated that 80% of customers are expected to have power restored by this evening, and 90% by tomorrow evening. However, some final repairs may extend into the early part of the weekend. 950 utility workers from out of state are assisting with the repair efforts.
