Jerusalem, Israel, July 28, 2023  - With a brutal heat wave beating down for days on end and political discord in the streets, the Nine Days were not pleasant going into Tisha B'Av in Yerushalayim.

The nights are reasonably cooler, so once again I walked around the walls of the Old City with an organized group. The group changed leadership and the event was smaller, without the usual government and well-known figures speaking, but as always security was vigilant and there were no serious problems.

Meeting a three-generation family from the Golan who came just for the night and were planning to drive back and a new olah from Lakewood, and seeing the changes on the eastern side of the walls, and the amazing views of Har Hazetim made the experience worthwhile.

Tens of thousands as usual were in the Old City, all night long, coming and going, singing or sleeping on the stones of the plaza.
