Baltimore, MD - July 26, 2023 - A heatwave is expected in Maryland, with temperatures soaring to dangerous levels from Thursday through Shabbos. A high-pressure heat system is shifting eastward, bringing scorching temperatures not seen in years. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of Maryland with heat index values around 105 degrees. The temperature in Baltimore could reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the highest in years.  Thunderstorms are also predicted during these days.


Community member Dr. Dov Frankel explains: “We are expected to have elevated temperatures tomorrow which can be dangerous if not taken seriously leading to kidney failure and even death. It is wise to stay indoors with air conditioning such as at home or in shul. Please try to limit spending unnecessary time outside. Should you develop symptoms of extreme dehydration, or have a low threshold for breaking your fast, consult with your Rav.”
