Baltimore, MD - Oct. 14, 2015 - In response to the dangerous situation and tragic deaths that have occurred recently in Israel, R'L, the Baltimore Jewish community gathered to recite Tehillim on Tuesday night, October 13, 2015 at Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion. Rabbi Moshe Hauer spoke briefly saying, “We all know why we are here. In the past weeks we have seen so many hurt, wounded and killed. We are here, not for a lot of speeches but just to daven.”

Rabbi Hauer referred to the Haftorah reading for this Shabbos where the navi (prophet) calls the flood waters “mei Noach,” the waters of Noach. Chazal tell us that even though Noach was the one who was saved, in a certain sense the flood was blamed on him because he did not daven for the rest of the world. Rabbi Hauer said “we are gathered here today to daven together as a community. We hope that each of us will continue, after tonight, to work, to enhance, to add and strengthen our prayers each and every day, many times each day for this very, very difficult situation.”

Led by Rabbanim from the community, Tehillim was recited responsively, followed by the heartfelt singing of Acheinu Kol Bais Yisrael.
