Baltimore, MD - Feb. 17, 2016 - Excitement is building in the greater Baltimore community for the first ever Klal Perspectives Shabbos, to be held this week, Shabbos Parashas Tetzaveh, February 19-20.
Klal Perspectives was established in 2011, with the goal of providing the Torah community with a forum to address and debate the major issues confronting the Orthodox Jewish community today. With both print and online version, a diverse group of rabbinic and lay leaders share their varying perspectives on a given topic in each issue, with an eye to not only describing problems but also pointing to possible solutions. Since its inception, Klal Perspectives has been met with great enthusiasm from tens of thousands of readers and online viewers, and has had a tremendous influence upon its viewers.
This Shabbos, Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion welcomes the members of the editorial board of Klal Perspectives for what promises to be an unforgettable Shabbos summit, addressing the burning issues of the day. These members include Rabbi Ahron Lopiansky, Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshiva of Greater Washington; Rabbi Moshe Hauer, Rav of Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion; Rabbi Yonason Rosenblum, founder of Jewish Media Resources as well as prolific columnist, author, and speaker; Rabbi Yitzchok Adlerstein, Director of Interfaith Affairs at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, and Moishe Bane, partner at Ropes Gray and founder of multiple organizations within the Jewish community. Having these five distinguished speakers join together for one Shabbos is a true treat for our community.
Scheduled events include thought provoking panel discussions, lectures, and divrei Torah regarding contemporary issues facing Klal Yisrael and the Jewish family. The event is highly anticipated across the community, and many are making plans to spend Shabbos in the area to be able to participate in some or all of the scheduled events.
The program will begin with a Friday night meal (by reservation only), featuring an address by Rabbi Rosenblum on, “Why Israel Needs its Own Klal Perspectives,” and a second lecture by Rabbi Yitzchok Adlerstein on, “Is There Room For Everyone in the Orthodox Big Tent?” Following the meal, beginning at 8:30 p.m. a panel discussion will take place on “In Search of Spiritual Connections : Are We a Community at Risk?”
