Baltimore, MD - Jan 31, 2016 - Millbrook, a pleasant neighborhood located just west of Fallstaff and Reisterstown Rd. is not known as a Jewish area. Taking a drive down Crest Heights Road, after Millbrook Elementary School, you may be surprised to see high-school yeshiva boys entering a large red brick building. Welcome to the new home of Mesivta Ne’imus Hatorah.  Formerly Congregation Beth Issac Adath Israel, better known as the Milbrook shul, and, for many years led by the late Rabbi Mendel Poliakoff, ZT'L, the shul building was acquired by the yeshiva in September and now serves as its campus.

Mesivta Ne’imus Hatorah was established nearly a decade ago for young men who have yet to find success in a mainstream yeshiva setting. Originally based in the Baltimore Community Kollel, the yeshiva has moved numerous times over the years. Understanding that this was not a tenable situation, the search for a location began over two years ago, culminating in the recent purchase of the nearly 12,000 square foot facility.

“This is an exciting time for Ne’imus Hatorah”, says Rabbi Laib Schulman, Menahel.” For the first time, we have a place of our own which provides a proper setting for our talmidim to grow and thrive in. At the same time, it is an honor for us to enable the Beth Issac Shul, which still meets on Shabbos, to continue serving the community.”

The building contains a large Bais Medrash, a commercial kitchen, a spacious dining area, a computer lab, and office space. Two classrooms have already been added, with a third in process. A recently opened recreation/fitness room is being enjoyed by the talmidim during their breaks. An outdoor playing area is planned, and there are playing fields nearby. Once complete, it will provide the space needed to fully implement the yeshivas unique program. “A lot has happened over the last few years, “explains Rabbi Ari Soloff, Executive Director. “We’ve added a guidance counselor, reading specialist, and introduced an ongoing life-skills program, which includes different speakers, presentations, and instruction on a variety of topics. Not having adequate facilities has hampered us in the past, and we look forward to utilizing our new place to the fullest.”

A great deal of time and effort, spearheaded by members of the board, was expended in the process. “We are very pleased with the purchase of the building,” says board member Avi Bernstein, who led the effort.” This will enhance what is already a great community resource. We wish the yeshiva much hatzlacha in their home.”

On Sunday morning, February 7th, at 10am, the yeshiva will be hosting a Chanukas Habayis in its new location at 4398 Crest Heights Rd. It will feature a siyum by the talmidim, a video presentation produced by senior Akiva Fordsham, divrei brocha by the Rosh Yeshiva and Rabbi Chaim Nosson (Nate) Segal of Torah Umesorah, accompanied by joyous music and refreshments.  Join Rabbonim, members of the community, alumni, and friends, along with the entire yeshiva, in celebrating this wonderful milestone.
