It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rabbi Dovid Schwartz, z”l of Brooklyn.

Rabbi Schwartz served until last year as Mara D’Asra of Cong Sfard of Midwood. He was deeply involved in translating and teaching the works of the Izhbitzer Rebbes, zy”a.

He was a high school Rebbi, and worked for 18 years in the Jewish Heritage Center of Queens and Long Island as a kiruv Rabbi.

Before that, he was a R”M in Yeshivah of Skokie.

Rabbi Schwartz was a talmid of Harav Simchah Wasserman, zt”l, in Los Angeles. He later learned in Yeshiva Chaim Berlin and in Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim.

Rabbi Schwartz is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sima Schwartz; his siblings, Rabbi Chaim Schwartz and Rabbi Avrohom Schwartz; and his children, R’ Yosef Chanina, R’ Binyomin, R’ Mendy, Shlomo, Nosson Nechemia, Elimelech and Leah.

The levaya was held today Shomrei Hachomos Chapels in Boro Park. Kevurah is taking place in Lakewood, NJ, at the East Seventh Street Bais Hachaim.

The family will be sitting shivah until Tuesday morning at 1258 East 12th Street in Flatbush. Shacharis is at 8 a.m., Mincha at 1:30 p.m., and Maariv at 8:45 p.m.
