new $70 million plane that will be used by Israeli prime ministers and presidents — making it the Jewish state’s equivalent to America’s “Air Force One” — has been installed with an advanced missile defense system, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Monday.

Details of the make and model of the plane are still under Israeli military censorship.

According to Channel 2, the “Flight Guard” missile defense system — an Elbit product — will protect the plane from shoulder-fired missiles during takeoffs and landings.

The plane arrived in Israel last summer and is currently undergoing a retrofitting process, which is being carried out by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). It is expected to go into service around seven months from now, Channel 2 said.

Israel’s leaders currently charter planes from one of the country’s three main airlines, or fly commercial aircraft when they travel abroad.
