Tuesday, Dec. 6, 20161 - By a vote of acclimation - and in the presence of the Rabbinical Alliance’s Chief Rabbinical Court Justice Harav HaGaon Herschel Kurzrock, more than sixty prominent Rabbis from the NY metro area called for the government of Israel to safeguard Amona from pitiless destruction as directed by a series of specious, misguided and misinformed rulings by leftist Justices.
Rabbi Yehoshua S. Hecht, member of the RAA Presidium discussed the cruel decision to remove the residents of Amona from their homes and community, an act reminiscent to what was done to the thriving Jewish community of Gush Katif in the summer of 2005.
At present more than 30 percent of Gush Katif refugees have yet to find permanent homes and when taking into account how their lives and livelihood were disrupted – and their many youth who are dealing with the trauma with issues of drugs, depression and family dissolutions – all directly caused by the draconian acts of the Israeli government and the ill-conceived disengagement.
The Rabbinical Alliance reiterated the numerous laws of the Torah that prohibit such actions and noted that they have no legality within the corpus of Jewish law and fly in the face of common law and logic.
By what standard of law does the secular Court in Israel measure its rulings to destroy Jewish homes and property to assuage the specious claims of the hostile Arab population?
If eminent domain is recognized in International law why is it rarely applied to entire Jewish communities built with the blessings of the Israeli government?
If all laws of rabbinic protection for Sabbath observance are suspended to allow for purchase of property in Israel from the hands of gentiles even on the holy Sabbath day, why is there no sensitivity shown by the Courts of Israel to the thousands of Jewish people whose lives are repeatedly being disrupted by the abhorrent claims of the PLO that home building in the Jewish state are obstacles to peace?
The decision to protest the courts of Israel acting with impunity against its Jewish citizenry was issued with a great sense of gravitas and reservation.
By a vote of acclimation the distinguished Rabbis and Scholars -- some serving in the active Rabbinate close to half a century, the decision was made to publicly announce the Rabbinical Alliances support for the beleaguered community of Amona and other residents whose homes and communities are being threatened by a an unjust and unfair rule of law that favors Israel’s mortal enemies and serves to weaken – Heaven forefend – the security and safety of Israel’s inhabitants.
