Chabad of Parkland is attended by Sheriff Scott Israel

PARKLAND, Fla. - A South Florida synagogue was targeted by vandals on the eve of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah.

Vandals spray painted portions of Chabad of Parkland, 7170 Loxahatchee Road, with black spray paint, leaving messages read "free Palestine" and another read "(expletive) 12."

"Certainly it was a hate crime and it was intentional that it was on a synagogue, and that's unfortunate, but our response to these types of attacks is to add a little positive energy and some light and love ," Rabbi Shuey Biston said.

The targeted synagogue is attended by Broward Sheriff Scott Israel, who helped clean up the spray paint, along with other volunteers.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
