Baltimore, MD – October 26, 2025 – At a Melava Malka hosted last night in the home of the Khaver family, the Koidenover Rebbe delivered stirring divrei chizuk on the deep spiritual significance of the Melava Malka meal.
The Rebbe spoke about how this cherished minhag serves as a bridge between two worlds — preserving the kedusha of Shabbos while easing the soul’s transition back into the weekday rhythm. “A Jew can ascend to unimaginable spiritual heights on Shabbos,” he explained, “and without the soft landing provided by Melava Malka, the shift back to the ordinary could feel jarring to both body and spirit.”
He emphasized that this fourth Shabbos seudah isn’t merely a farewell meal — it’s a continuation of holiness, a de...
Baltimore, MD - Oct. 26, 2025 - Excitement and ruach filled the halls of TA this morning, as our Mesivta and 8th grade warmly welcomed TA’s new Kollel to begin their zman—with singing, dancing, and true kavod haTorah. Led by Rabbi Yerucham Rothstein, along with Rabbi Yaakov Yisroel Hofman, Rabbi Yaakov Perl, and Rabbi Yehuda Roberts, this new initiative marks a major step forward in strengthening limud haTorah and ruchniyus throughout our Yeshiva. The energy and simchas haTorah on display were a beautiful reflection of what TA is all about!

Moshe is more beloved (chaviv) than Noach; Noach, after having been called an ish tzaddik (6:19), was called ish adama (9:20), while Moshe,[ by contrast,] after having been called ish mitzri (Shemos 2:19), was called ish HaElokim (Devarim 33:1) (Breishis Raba 36:3).
The Meshech Chochma (Breishis 9:20) explains that there are two ways to serve Hashem. One way is to serve Hashem exclusively, in isolation (misbodeid). Another is one who is involved in the needs of the community, who sacrificed himself for the sake of the klal and renounced (was mafkir) his soul for them.
Logically, one would think that the first type will ascend higher and higher, and the second will descend from his level, as is recorded in the medr...
Senior Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk has claimed that returning the bodies of the remaining 13 deceased hostages could take "months."
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Abu Marzouk stated: “I have said in the past that there will be a problem regarding the deceased hostages, because it is difficult to hand them all over and hard to locate them all at once. This won’t take weeks - it could take months.”
He added, “It could be that we won’t be able to find some of the deceased hostages. We say clearly: We have no deceased hostages that we are able to hand over.”
Earlier this month, Abu Marzouk claimed that the terror group would take "months" to locate all the hostages, living and dead alike. However, all 20 living hostages were release...
US President Donald Trump on Saturday night called on the Hamas terror group to immediately return the bodies of deceased hostages.
"We have a very strong PEACE in the Middle East, and I believe it has a good chance of being EVERLASTING," Trump wrote. "Hamas is going to have to start returning the bodies of the deceased hostages, including two Americans, quickly, or the other Countries involved in this GREAT PEACE will take action."
He noted, "Some of the bodies are hard to reach, but others they can return now and, for some reason, they are not."
"Perhaps it has to do with their disarming, but when I said, 'Both sides would be treated fairly,' that only applies if they comply with their obligations. Let’s see what they do over the next 48 hours. I am watching this very ...
Jerusalem, Israel – October 24, 2025 – Israel will turn its clocks back one hour this Motzaei Shabbos, officially switching from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time. As a result, Israel will now be six hours ahead of Baltimore until Baltimore adjusts its own clocks next Motzaei Shabbos.

Baltimore, MD - Oct. 23, 2025 - The sudden, tragic passing of Rabbi Moshe Hauer, z"l, has left a deep and painful void in the Baltimore Jewish community and far beyond. While much will rightly be written about his international influence and brilliant leadership within the Orthodox Union, I wish to reflect on the Rabbi Hauer I knew, as my shul rabbi. He was a man of humility, warmth, and deep compassion, whose presence enriched our community long before his rise to national and global prominence.
I first met Rabbi Hauer in the 1990’s, when he began his rabbinical journey at B'nai Jacob on Seven Mile Lane, under the gentle shadow of his esteemed father-in-law, Rabbi Joseph Baumgarten, Z”l., I vividly remember his very first Drasha - July 4, 1992 - delivered with quie...
In the first Pasuk of Parshas Noach, there is a Rashi which calls out for deeper analysis and explanation. The famous Rashi, “B’Dorosav”, quotes conflicting opinions in Chazal as to what the pasuk means when it says that Noach was a Tzadik “in his generation”. One opinion is that Noach was a complete Tzadik. The other view is that Noach was only a Tzadik “B’Dorosav” – when compared to the Reshaim of his generation. This derogatory description even goes so far as to say “Had Noach lived in Avraham’s Dor, Lo Nechshav Klum- he wouldn’t have been recognized as an outstanding individual”. This Rashi raises several difficult issues. First, it is unusual for Chazal to have a disagreement about a fact. Typically when th...
Of every clean animal take unto you seven pairs, איש ואשתו — husband and wife. Of every animal that is not clean, take two, איש ואשתו — husband and wife. (בראשית ז ב)
The Talmud in Sanhedrin (108b) wonders, Is there marriage for animals?
We never find the reference of 'husband and wife' in Torah other than by humans.
Rabbi Shmuel bar Nachmani answers in the name of Rabbi Yonasan: The reference is to those animals with which did not violate the transgression of relations with another species.
Rashi elucidates that although female animals will mate with many males, the animals who were privileged to enter the Ark were only those who stayed loyal to their species, not coupling with other ones.
Is that the sum total of marriage, simply stayi...
We had the great honor of marketing a lovely apartment in Jerusalem’s Sha’are Chesed neighborhood for the estate of Yehuda Avner. Standing in Avner’s office and viewing numerous photos of him with leading world leaders felt like I was taking a stroll through the history of the State of Israel.
You might recognize the name Yehuda Avner, as he wrote a wonderful book called “The Prime Ministers: An Intimate Narrative of Israeli Leadership.” Avner was secretary and speechwriter to prime ministers Levi Eshkol and Golda Meir, and adviser to prime ministers Yitzhak Rabin, Menachem Begin and Shimon Peres. In these roles, he was privy to many conversations of historical significance, some of which are mentioned in the book. One can tell that Avner was a magnifice...
