FIVE TOWNS, NY (VINnews) — A 73-year-old Jewish man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Woodmere.
Sholom (Stuart) Hecht, Z'L,who was a congregant of the Edward Avenue Shul, was walking home on his way back from morning prayers, when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 36-year-old female.
The accident occurred at approximately 7 AM on Peninsula Boulevard near the intersection of Edward Avenue.
The driver remained on scene until police arrived. No arrest has been made.
The victim was rushed by Hatzolah to South Nassau Hospital in traumatic arrest. He passed away upon arriving to the hospital.
The funeral has been scheuled for Wednesday morning at 10:00AM at Schwartz’s Funeral Chapel in Queens.
In an unfortunate turn of events, another fatal accident occured soon after, just 1 mile away from the first accident.
The second accident involved 2 vehicles, one of them overturned.
One elderly male was transported by Hatzolah to South Nassau Community Hospital, where was pronounced dead.
Nassau County Police arrested the other driver. The reason for the arrest has not been verified at this time.
