Now in its 14th year, over 1,000 volunteers, organized by Jewish Volunteer Connection (JVC), will work together on behalf of the community today. Together, they will assemble winter care packages, make fleece blankets, decorate cards for veterans, create flash cards for Ashkelon and Odessa and prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and bagged meals for the hungry. Items will be distributed to individuals in homeless shelters in Baltimore City and County. In addition, throughout the afternoon, volunteers will serve holiday dinner at shelters throughout Baltimore.

There will be volunteer opportunities for every age, interest and ability in the ever-expanding Mitzvah Rooms at both JCCs. In addition, each JCC location will offer a sensory room with select service projects which is new this year.

Volunteers are expected to assemble and deliver more than 2,000 care packages of winter essentials (hand-knitted scarves and hats by local community members, gloves, toiletries, snacks, etc.) to local homeless shelters.
