Baltimore, MD - June 28, 2019 - Rappelling down the side of a 25-story building in downtown Baltimore is not exactly the typical way for an organization to host a community fundraiser.

That said, Chai Lifeline’s Mid-Atlantic Region has never been typical.

It was founded by a motley crew of volunteers who believed in an idea and turned it into an ideal. They were followed, gradually, by community lay-leaders who believed in them and supported their dream to create an organization of unparalleled reach and impact. Over time, a professional staff was enlisted to help streamline the services and programs that were changing the face of pediatric illness in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The volunteer body has grown exponentially and now stands at 200 strong. What was once 7 families receiving nominal ancillary support has now become 111 families receiving comprehensive emotional, social, financial, and critical programs and services.

Like I said. Chai Lifeline’s Mid-Atlantic Region has never been typical.

On June 16th, the whole of downtown Baltimore witnessed just how atypical Chai Lifeline has become. Over 100 dedicated – and fearless – supporters of Chai Lifeline took to the skies and rappelled 265 feet to show that there is simply nothing that they will not do for sick Jewish children in Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, and Delaware.

Imagine a marathon, but vertical. Participants made their way to the top of one of the tallest buildings in downtown where Uri Arnson Photography captured the experience. Spectators gathered in the park below. The beat of the music from DJ Balagan below was only matched buy the thumping heartbeats from the participants on the rooftop above.

It was anything but typical. It was Chai Lifeline.

It was sensational.
