Jerusalem, Israel - Nov. 28, 2018 - A third Jewish Media Summit was held, from Sunday night to Wednesday evening, in Jerusalem, Israel, with 150 Jewish journalists, bloggers and writers from more than 30 countries attending. Organized by the Government Press Office headed by Nitzan Chen, unlike in the past, the current event involved and featured social media.

As many conferences held in Jerusalem, food, speeches, panels, and varied tours were main components. From the opening panel with a debate between Caroline Glick and Anshel Pfeffer, to the closing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, antisemitism and anti-Zionism were topics of discussion.

With the situation of Knesset members being needed for voting, appearances were brief and program changes common. MK Elazar Stern, Sharren Haskel  and Rachel Azaria were interviewed by Lahav Harkov on the first full day.

Carmel6000 and Mosaic United were two new promising initiatives presented involving young people in technology and Jewish involvement.

On the second full day, four trip options were provided. "Security, coexistence and settlements" began with Danny Tirza, "architect" of the security barrier explaining his process on construction from a overlook in Gilo and then by the wall constructed near Kever Rachel.

Entering the Arab village of Husan, hiking down to the Husan Spring, and meeting with Ziad Sabateen, a resident of the village who after serving in an Israeli jail became a peace activist, was a highlight of the day trip. A stop in Netiv Avot, after lunch in Gush Etzion Winery, and the trip ended in Efrat with Mayor Oded Revivi speaking to the group, as the sun was setting.

Special evening and night entertainment was provided, including the new King David night show at the Tower of David.

The final day began at Beit HaNasi with President Reuven Rivlin hosting and sitting for a group photo. Opening his remarks, the president said, “We Jews are the people of the book. We are a people of words. From our earliest days, our words have defined who we are. We carried our words in our hearts, in our books, on the long journey of the Jewish people. You, too, are people of words, and pictures,“ he continued. “Today, you work on different platforms: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, blogs, but the task is still the same - to tell stories, to help us understand, to bring light and truth.”

From the President's Residence, after a brief tour, the next stop was the Knesset, with touring and viewing the Knesset in session. Prime MInister Benjamin Netanyahu made an appearance, spoke briefly, and answered questions. Though Speaker of Knesset Yuli Edelstein was to give greetings, time did not permit.

After another round of security checks to enter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MFA, held the concluding meal and program with Noam Katz, Head of Public Diplomacy, Emmanuel Nahshon, Spokesperson MFA, and Hillel Newman, Director of World Jewish Affairs Department.

Among the participants in the conference were comedian Avi Liberman,  KosherGuru, blogger Gabriel BoxerAllison Josephs of “Jew in the City", editor Gary Rosenblatt, WUJS President Avigayil Benstein, Nikki Schreiber of "Humans of Judaism," Jewish Voice Publisher David Ben-Hooren, Morton Landowne, Avi Abelow, and this writer.
