Pittsburgh, PA - The names of those shot dead by a gunman yelling “All Jews must die” was released on Sunday after the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in the United States, officials said.

Officials said at a news conference Sunday that the victims ranged in age from 54 to 97 and included brothers and a husband and wife.

The name of the victims listed:

- Joyce Feinberg, 75, of Oakland

- Richard Gottfried, 65, of Ross Township

- Rose Mallinger, 97, of Squirrel Hill

- Jerry Rabinowitz, 66, of Edgewood

- Cecil Rosenthal, 59, of Squirrel Hill, and his brother, David Rosenthal, 54

- Bernice Simon, 84, of Wilkinsburg, and her husband, Sylvan Simon, 86

- Daniel Stein, 71, of Squirrel Hill

- Irving Younger, 69, of Mount Washington

- Melvin Wax, 88

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto told CBS television station KDKA that the list of the dead “rips your heart out”, saying he personally knew some of the victims.

The Mayor said the city will move beyond the “horrific” tragedy and focus on strengthening the community.

“To the victims families and friends, we’re here for you,” the mayor said. “We’ll be here to help you through this horrific episode. We’ll get through this darkest day of Pittsburgh’s history by working together.”

Mr. Peduto praised Squirrel Hill’s diversity.

“People choose to live in Squirrel Hill because of its diversity.” The Jewish community is the backbone. Part of the fabric of Pittsburgh.”
