Baltimore-January 28, 2018 - If you’ve ever been slowed down by traffic in Yerushalayim and Tel Aviv, you can, perhaps, better appreciate the value of ambucycles-- motorcycles equipped with a storage box containing a range of medical equipment, used by first responders in emergency situations. Ambucycles can avoid delaying factors—such as traffic jams, road closures, parking issues, and debris—and expedite a medic’s arrival on the scene on an average of 90 seconds. These lifesaving vehicles play a critical link in the emergency chain of survival when every second counts.
This June, the Diamond family of Baltimore and Israel, will perpetuate the memory of Paul and Sonia Diamond, and their son, Abe, z”l, when their generous donation of an ambucycle will be dedicated to Magen David Adom, in Israel.
These 2 photos are from today's dedication, June 27, 2018, at Magen Dovid Adom Headquarters:
“My grandparents, Paul and Sonia Diamond, were Holocaust survivors and they always said that more lives would have been saved in the Holocaust if the State of Israel had been there,” shares Jeremy Diamond, Abe’s son. “Giving charity was always important to them. What better way to memorialize them than to donate this hatzalah vehicle to help save Jewish lives. Years ago, my grandmother donated an ambulance to the Magen Dovid Adom, so she already set the precedent for our family that this organization was extremely important.”
