Jerusalem, Israel - Oct. 29, 2017 - The Jewish Agency Board of Governors is meeting from October 29-31, in Jerusalem, Israel, at the David Citadel Hotel. 

At the Opening Plenary, world leaders from Jewish organizations gathered to hear remarks from Michael Siegal, Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz and Jewish Agency Chairman of the Executive Natan Sharansky. The minutes from the previous meeting in June, which was led by Charles Ratner, were approved.

Marylander Norm Goldstein was one of the delegates to present a question to Steinitz. However, the answer was not specific to the question of priorities in education as asked by Goldstein.

The theme of this session is "Unity of the Jewish People.' The opening day committee meetings included Israel Engagement, Masa, Aliyah & Rescue,Activism, Russian Jewry, and Budget and Finance.

Monday, the Board of Governors will spend time at the Kotel. Tuesday's sessions are to be held at Knesset, with extensive meetings with Israeli Knesset members.

The Jewish Agency's stated vision is "to ensure the future of a connected, committed, global Jewish people with a strong Israel at its center." and its mission to "inspire Jews throughout the world to connect with their people, heritage, and homeland, and empower them to build a thriving Jewish future and a strong Israel."
