Jerusalem, Israel - Oct. 23, 2017 - Streets were closed hours before the Opening Session of the fourth sitting of the 20th Israeli Knesset on Monday afternoon, in Jerusalem.

Visually impaired protesters with guide dogs filled the intersection near the Israel Museum. Buses and a larger group of protesters were near the Knesset entrance.

Ambassadors to Israel from over 50 countries attended the session, arriving on time and entering the plenary room as a group to observe.

MK Naftali Bennett went to shake hands with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on entering the room. Knesset members continued to arrive after the session began.

Speaker Yuli Edelstein opened the session and addressed the Knesset members, as visitors and press watched from the galleries above.

President Reuven Rivlin spoke, followed by the Prime Minister, and the Opposition Leader Yitzhak Herzog.

Netanyahu spoke of opposition parties, calling them "sour" and though there was shouting in response, the Prime Minister insisted the state of Israel was doing well. Two members were escorted out of the room when they would not cease shouting during the Prime Minister's talk.

As President Rivlin exited the room, all stood. The opposition side of the Knesset applauded as the President left, coalition members did not.

This Knesset includes 33 women, and has 18 non-Jewish Members, 11 Muslims, five Druze, and two Christians.

Among those attending the session were a delegation from WomenWagePeace, who took the front row in the visitors section, diverse religious and civic leaders, families who have lost family members to terror, and former Maryland resident and former MK Dov Lipman.

As the session ended, the sun was setting and traffic started moving.
