Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Authority, is an avowed terrorist who regularly glorifies terrorism. Regrettably, the Trump administration extended an invitation to the Palestinian Authority leader despite his terrorist background. Yet, the Palestinian Authority's presence at the White House on May 3 is nothing new. President Clinton invited Yasser Arafat multiple times to the White House even though Arafat's state sponsored media actively called for the murder of Jews and his Fatah organization carried out terrorist attacks in Israel. The terrorist Arafat became a legitimate head of state during the Clinton years. When Bush 43 became president, he temporarily chartered a different direction and denied Arafat entry to 1600 W Pennsylvania Ave. In 2002, then press secretary Ari Fleischer explained Bush's reasoning in closing the White House doors to Arafat. "In the President's eyes, Yasser Arafat has never played a role of someone who could be trusted or who was effective," Fleischer said. However, after Arafat died and Abbas assumed control of the Palestinian Authority, Bush welcomed the Palestinian Authority back to the White House as if suddenly everything had changed and the Palestinian Authority could be trusted again. When Obama became President, he warmly embraced Abbas while denigrating Israel's Netanyahu.
Under Abbas' tutelage of the Palestinian Authority, he has proven to be no different than Arafat except he wears a suit and not a military uniform. This past February, Abbas stated that he has shared the same views with arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti for the past 40 years. Barghouti is responsible for the planning and execution of at least three shooting attacks in Israel in which 5 were killed. Indeed, Abbas has called for Jewish blood to be spilled in Jerusalem. "Every drop of blood that has been spilled in Jerusalem is holy blood as long as it was for Allah, " declared Abbas in 2015. His Fatah organization has created videos urging Palestinians to "stab, run over Israelis, be a martyr." Abbas' own media has demonized Jews as "pigs and apes" "barbaric monkeys" and compared Zionists to Nazis. Most disturbingly, whenever a Palestinian terrorist kills innocent individuals in Israel, the Palestinian Authority rewards the terrorist with a monthly stipend using US taxpayer dollars. In 2013, the Palestinian Authority renewed legislation making it the law of the land to pay terrorists who have murdered Israelis or non-Israelis living in or touring Israel. The Palestinian Authority even established a Ministry of Prison Affairs specifically designed to pay terrorist prisoners. In 2016, terrorist prisoners received 140 million dollars from the ministry. In order to encourage mass murder, the salary is grotesquely allocated on a higher scale based on the amount of people the terrorist prisoner has killed. And, the Palestinian Authority even dished out 175 million dollars in 2016 to the families of slain terrorists. No wonder Palestinians jubilantly hand out candy after every terrorist attack in Israel.
Why is Abbas allowed to continue funding his Jew-hating murderous regime? For one simple reason: Republican and Democrat Presidents alike for decades have diplomatically incentivized the Palestinian Authority's penchant for promoting terrorism by unfurling the red carpet for the leaders of the Palestinian Authority on the White House lawn and funneling money into their coffers.
We have become the enablers of the Palestinian Authority's addiction to terrorism.
So, if President Trump truly wants to eradicate the hate within the Palestinian Authority and disband their destructive pattern of terror, its time for a classic intervention between the terror addict and its enabler.
Here is what I would tell Abbas if I were President Trump. As soon as Abbas walks into the West Wing after all of the pleasantries are exchanged, I would firmly demand that he immediately cease and desist from the following:
1) Financing terrorism;
2) Honoring terrorists and
3) Disparaging Jews with virulently antisemitic symbols and imagery
Otherwise, I would advise Abbas that if no such action is taken, the White House will be urging Congress to pass the Taylor Force Act that will prevent any US taxpayer dollars from being deposited into the bank accounts of Ramallah. And, to top it off, Abbas will not have to worry about the long flight to Washington anymore because the White House doors will be closed to the Palestinian Authority until reforms are satisfactorily instituted.
If this message is not conveyed to Abbas, rest assured the hate will only intensify and our hard earned taxpayer dollars will continue to be used to accelerate terrorism.
