One thousand people crowded into the Crowne Plaza Hotel ballroom in Jerusalem, Israel, on Sunday night, for "Sovereignty with Responsibility," the 4th Sovereignty Conference.
Women in Green, headed by Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, has been leading a campaign for implementation of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. Both women opened the evening conference, which included a long list of speakers on stage and appearing in video segments.
The program was conducted in Hebrew, with English translation provided. Former Governor Michael Huckabee and South Carolina legislature Alan Clemmons sent video messages in English to express their support.
Yehuda Glick and Uri Ariel were among the Members of Knesset present. MK Zeev Elkin, Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Environmental Protection spoke. Knesset Speaker Yuli Edestein and Education Minister Nafatali Bennett were among the Knesset Members who recorded messages.
Rav Avraham Gisser, Rav of Ofra and head of the Mishpatei Eretz Institute spoke after Zeev Jabotinsky. Caroline Glick received an award for her work on behalf of sovereignty and participated in a panel discussion, "What will be the status of Arabs after the application of Sovereignty?"
Bassem Eid, former Palestinian human rights activist, and presently an analyst for Israeli TV, accompanied Sheikh Farid Jabri and a small delegation of Arab leaders into the packed hall, where they were warmly greeted by Noam Arnon, spokesman of Hevron Jewish Community and others.
Outside the main ballroom, tables with displays and information concerning Judea and Samaria interest groups were going, even as the program proceeded. With the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, and Jews in Judea and Samaria, the topic of sovereignty is being increasingly discussed.
