The departure of Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott’s fifth communications director in less than five years has raised new concerns about a pattern of staff turnover at City Hall.

Kamau Marshall, a longtime Washington operative and senior advisor on Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign, suddenly left his $185,000-a-year role in the Scott administration last week after less than six months on the job.

Both Marshall and Scott’s chief of staff, Calvin Young, released statements publicly praising each other once the news broke. Scott addressed Marshall’s departure during a news conference last Tuesday, saying he had “no beef” with his outgoing top spokesman.

“We know that he’ll be going on to bigger and better things as he continues [to] do this work,” the mayor said. “He is a very, very seasoned professional, especially when it comes to national politics. There is no beef or anything between us, and we wish him well.”... Read More: SUN/Fox45
