Baltimore, MD - Apr. 26, 2022 - A Letter To The Baltimore Jewish Community From The Family Of Efraim Gordon, Z'L, H'yd:

With the murder trial just a few days away, today is a day full of mixed emotions.

Today our dear cousin Efraim Gordon, Z'L, HY”D would be turning 32, a painful reminder that Efraim is no longer here.

32 is the numerical value of the Hebrew word Lev which means heart. When thinking of Efraim, the word “heart” definitely comes to mind. Efraim had the kindest and biggest heart. A person who made his entire life about giving of himself to others.

Less than 12 months ago, Efraim was murdered on Fords Lane, on the doorstep of his Aunt and Uncle's home.

The individuals who murdered Efraim did not know him, nor did they target him. Efraim was killed by a random act of violence and hate that could have occurred to anyone.

The trial of the suspects in Efraim's murder begins this coming Monday, May 2nd, exactly a year after he was murdered.

Three out of the four suspects have been apprehended by the Police and are in custody.  A fourth suspect is still at large.

This will be a chance for justice to bring some sort of closure to the tragic murder of our dear cousin. It would mean a lot if community members showed up for the trials. Community support and presence at the trials will likely affect the verdicts and help keep the streets of Baltimore safer for all. We need to make a statement; we will not tolerate this violence!

Please reach out if you’re available to join  the trial in person by contacting efraimchai@gmail.com.

Efraim was about love for others and joy of life, selflessness, and kindness. He enjoyed studying Torah and observed its Mitzvot with humility. He treasured every moment that he had in this world.

As difficult as this year has been for us, we have been constantly growing and learning how to be more like Efraim.

Less judgmental, more accepting.

Less exclusion, more loving.

Less confrontation, more connection.

In fact, this year our family had the great joy and honor to name a close relative after Efraim. Little Efraim will carry on Efraim's Legacy.

To honor Efraim’s memory, the Baltimore Community will be invited to join together for a grand community event. A day of unity for the entire Baltimore Jewish Community!

During this event we will dance with the Torah that will be completed in Efraim's memory.

The very place where his life was brutally taken, will also serve as the place where his life and legacy will continue forever.

The date and details of the event will follow, please stay tuned.

If you would like to volunteer with the event, or to dedicate part of Efraim’s Torah please email efraimchai@gmail.com or contact Dovid at 410.929.3225.
