The Jewish community in Antwerp, Belgium has been thrown into mourning after two young sisters – a 9-year-old and 1.5-year-old – were killed Tuesday morning when they were struck by a truck while attempting to cross a street.

According to reports, the truck made a left turn on to the street where the children were crossing the street on a scooter and may not have seen them.

Hatzolah of Antwerp quickly arrived at the scene but were unfortunately unable to save the children.

The girls are from a prominent Gerrer family in Antwerp. Their names have not yet been publicized.
