Hamas warns it will 'burn Israel to the ground' if Al-Aqsa Mosque is 'threatened again'
Israel's Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz demanded the cancellation late Saturday of the postponed Jerusalem Day flag parade, which was rescheduled to take place on June 10.
Israel Police canceled the annual Jerusalem Day march mid-event May 10, when Hamas launched rocket barrages into Israel, partly justifying their actions after claiming that Al-Aqsa Mosque was "threatened" - a well-worn excuse that has more than 100 years of justification for Arab violence against Jewish people.
Gantz released a statement following discussions with Israel Defense Force (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi, the attorney general, and other top security officials.

The defense minister said he stressed to all officials present the need for responsible, sensitive behavior. Notably absent from the meeting was Public Security Minister Amir Ohana of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, whose office oversees police, reported The Times of Israel (TOI).
Gantz added that he was concerned - amid a roiling political atmosphere that even had the head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Nadav Argaman make a very public warning for party leaders to tone down the rhetoric or face the prospect of people getting hurt - for the delicate coalition negotiations that are ongoing.
Predictably, there was strong resistance from the political right-wing. Religious Zionism party leader Bezalel Smotrich labeled Gantz's position "cowardly." Read more at i24
