Country gradually easing restrictions as COVID-19 cases decrease following vaccination campaign

Israeli Health Ministry officials said on Monday that the requirement to wear masks indoors could be lifted within two weeks if the trend of steadily waning coronavirus cases continues as restrictions are gradually eased.

Israel is almost out of the pandemic with most businesses and schools having returned to normal and the government announcing the imminent reopening of cinemas following the vaccination campaign carried out by the Jewish state over the last months.

According to Channel 12, health officials still maintain restrictions on inbound travelers and even plan to tighten those restrictions to prevent the entry of potential variants that could be resistant to the vaccines.

"It is always important to ensure that contamination does not come from the outside," Dr. Sharon Elroy-Price, head of public health at the Health Ministry, said in an interview on Channel 12. Read more at i24
