All air traffic was suspended following a massive barrage of Hamas rockets

Israel's Ben Gurion international airport resumed its normal activities on Sunday, following a ceasefire between the Jewish state and the Gaza Strip-based terrorist groups.

Earlier this month the airport suspended air traffic following a massive barrage of rockets launched toward nearby Tel Aviv by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. "During the massive rocket fire... flights were stopped to protect the country's skies," aviation authority spokesman Ofer Lefler said.

While some scheduled flights were held during the 11-day escalation in hostilities, on Sunday 18,000 passengers were expected to travel through the airport, about a third of the daily average before the coronavirus pandemic.  

Israel reopened its borders to foreign tourists on Sunday after a fall in COVID-19 infections, however, a Tourism Ministry spokesman said it would take time for visitors to start arriving and to revive the tourism industry. Read more at i24
