Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Department of Health (MDH), local jurisdictions, and their partners operate COVID-19 testing sites throughout the state which are also now being used in many cases for COVID-19 vaccination services. This weekly advisory provides information about testing site locations and hours operated by local health departments, as well as the status of their vaccination efforts at this time and how to find out more.
Please note that inclement weather is still possible, and may disrupt both testing and vaccinations in some areas. It is always advisable to check with the site before your scheduled appointment.
Vaccination sites across the state are operating on an appointment-only basis at this time, and walk-ins will not be permitted. On Friday, March 12, Governor Larry Hogan announced a new platform for eligible Marylanders to pre-register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at one of the state’s mass vaccination sites. Once pre-registered, Marylanders will be notified once an appointment is available, and will be able to verify their pre-registration status and reserve an appointment. Marylanders in Phase 1 eligible populations are now able to pre-register online at covidvax.maryland.gov or by phone through the state’s COVID-19 vaccination support center at 1-855-MD-GOVAX (1-855-634-6829).
Even if you are vaccinated, it is believed that you can still spread COVID-19. And if you are not vaccinated, you are vulnerable to new and contagious variants, so testing continues to be critical to ending this pandemic.
MDH encourages the following individuals to get COVID-19 tests:
- Symptomatic individuals;
- All who suspect exposure, including those who are asymptomatic;
- Individuals who are at risk of exposure, including workers in frequent contact with the public in health care, emergency services, food and grocery, retail or manufacturing, public transportation, educational, and other congregate settings;
- Individuals who have been in large gatherings indoors; and
- Individuals who have traveled recently, including those who have traveled to a state with a COVID-19 test positivity rate above ten percent or a case rate over 20 per 100,000.
