Jewish state battles spread of COVID-19 as it pushes on its vaccination scheme

Israel recorded 5,583 coronavirus cases on Tuesday as the Jewish state battles to curb the spread of COVID-19, new data released by the Health Ministry on Wednesday morning showed.

Of 99,126 screening tests conducted in 24 hours, 5.7 percent tested positive -- indicating a steady rise of infections throughout the country.

Thirty-two more people have died, raising Israel’s death toll to 3,292 since the start of the pandemic. In total, the Jewish state registered 414,447 infections since February.

There are currently 40,929 active cases in the country, among them 609 patients in serious condition -- including 154 on artificial respirators -- 169 individuals in moderate condition and the rest with mild symptoms or no symptoms. Read more at i24
