Israel will impose its third national lockdown on Sunday evening in an effort to curb rising coronavirus cases across the country as the Jewish state ramps up its vaccination drive.
Some 6,000 police officers will be deployed across the country to enforce the new lockdown which is set to begin at 5 pm.

Officially, Cabinet Ministers voted to keep the lockdown in place for two weeks but health officials say that the containment order will be extended to at least a month.
Israel has surpassed more than 3,000 cases per day over the last week amid fears that a highly contagious British variant of the disease could be spreading undetected in the country.
The move comes as Israel's vaccination drive kicks into full gear, with almost 250,000 members of the public already receiving the inoculation.
