Edelstein says vaccination pace to increase as Israel's daily new infections approach 4,000

Almost 210,000 Israelis have already been vaccinated against the COVID-19 coronavirus, Israel's Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said Friday.

In a statement, Edelstein stressed that 74,000 jabs were administered in the past 24 hours to first responders and those aged 60 or more.

He added that the Jewish state will work to increase the vaccination pace even higher and thanked the medical staff for their work.

Edelstein's statement came as the Health ministry reported Israel's new coronavirus figures.

According to the update early on Friday, the Jewish state registered 3,958 new infections on Thursday. 

Out of almost 100,000 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, 4.1 percent returned positive. Read more at i24
