Initial plan to close schools at 1 pm during national lockdown off the table

After the Israeli government drew criticism for ending classes every day at 1 pm during the national lockdown, it retracted the decision and schools are expected to operate as usual next week, Hebrew media reported on Thursday.

According to outlet Ynet, kindergartens, grades first to fourth and 11th to 12th will study in the usual school format.

As for other grades, restrictions will be relaxed, however, classes will study in separate groups combining frontal and virtual classes between 8 am and 1 pm, outlet Walla News reported.

As the Jewish state looks set to enter its third lockdown on Sunday, many parents voiced their anger at the initial decision to shutter schools at 1 pm. According to various reports, the reason for the outline was to bring about a “lockdown atmosphere.” Read more at i24
