Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 9, 2020 - The 4th Jewish Media Summit (JMS) on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic, instead of the usual biennial international gathering in Jerusalem, Israel

The COVID-19 crisis has placed the Jewish identity of hundreds of Jewish communities around the world in danger. The Government of Israel must assist Diaspora Jewry in connecting to their Jewishness and preserving their identity was the prevailing theme of the event.

The International Jewish Media Summit is organized by the Government Press Office (GPO) in cooperation with the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and with the participation of President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and media representatives and influencers from 30 countries.


GPO Director Nitzan Chen: opened the Zoom event which was available on social media: "The international Jewish Media Summit has become a main platform in which Jewish media leaders from Israel and the world deal with critical issues for the Jewish Diaspora. I have no doubt that this summit, especially during the coronavirus crisis, strengthens the bond between the State of Israel and its government and public opinion leaders among dozens of Jewish communities around the world, which desire close ties with decision-makers in Israel."

Among issues discussed at the summit was the influence of social networks on the hatred of Jews in the shadow of COVID-19 and the right of Jews from around the world to intervene in what happens in Israel.

Participants speaking during the summit included, MK Omer YankelevichYogev Karasenty, Rabbi Elie Abadi, Shira Ruderman, Dani Dayan, Sandy Cardin, Rachel Fish, comedian Avi Liberman, Maayan Jaffe Hoffman, Israel Hayom editor Boaz Bismuth, Israel TV News Ch. #13 Shabbat edition presenter Hila Korach moderated.

An elaborate musical presentation held outdoors in Tzipori followed the panels and speeches of the JMS. The audience was online, available on Facebook and other media channels, but seats in the huge theater were empty.
